ZTE Nubia M2
Hello, Guys! Today, I’m going to take a look at ZTE Nubia M2 review. Nubia is officially released in Indonesia and carries three of its affordable smartphones. It has a dual main camera. So, let’s get started-
Nubia M2 is the highest variant of Nubia’s smartphone in Indonesia at this moment. Nubia M2 brings a quite convincing design. This smartphone has a pretty general dimension, which is 5.5-inch with the 2.5D curve. This unit comes with Nubia’s signature colour, black gold. Accents of gold come as a sweet ornament. The gold lines can be seen all over the edge of the front and black body, and the button as well.
Unlike the most Chinese smartphones that tend to have an oval body, Nubia M2’s body looks a bit square despite the curvy corners. There are three capacitive buttons in the front part, and the button in the middle can only be touched and act as a fingerprint sensor. The sensor is pretty fast.
Moving on to the back body, the body is not included as a fingerprint magnet. After using it for quite some time, that will be fingerprinted yet barely visible. Besides Nubia logo and the back body, you will find its main value, which is the dual main camera. They are arranged horizontally and supported by LED flash. Moreover, since Nubia M2 is made of metal, this smartphone feels a bit slippery.
It uses regular AMOLED panel, not the Super AMOLED. The screen is pitch black while turned off, and colourful while turned on. Meanwhile, the resolution is full HD. Using it outdoor, the screen brightness has no problem. However, the character of its glass is shiny that the screen can reflect lights. This happens in extreme light.
It has two cameras that arranged horizontally. Both have the same 13-MP resolutions with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF (Phase detection Auto Focus). The left camera has an RGB sensor while the right one has a monochrome sensor. This configuration is exactly the same as Huawei P9 or P10. To feel bokeh sensation, it is obligatory for you to use portrait mode.
To us, this portrait mode features still needs improvements to make it more perfect. Because indoor pictures still generate noise. On the other hand, outdoor pictures are very cleaner yet the bokeh effect is often slobbery.
The camera offers a lot of professional Modes that will spoil those who love to set up camera. However, Pro mode offers 1/60.000 seconds up 2 seconds shutter speed and ISO up to 12.800. If you do not use portrait mode, the camera performance will not be disappointing.
In a low-light situation, the camera can capture a pretty bright and sharp picture. And the colour situation will look similar to the real condition.
Take a look at the front-facing camera, Nubia turns to have a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Selfie-shooter, which is quite high, is not even mentioned in their promotional material. After we try it out, the ability matches the resolution. It can take clear and sharp pictures, both indoor and outdoor.
Talking about hardware, Nubia m2 is a quite convincing smartphone. The reason is that it has middle-class chipset and pretty legendary Qualcomm, Snapdragon 625. The same chipset is used in several famous smartphones, such as Vivo V5 Plus and ASUS ZenFone 3. On Nubia M2, Snapdragon 625 supported by 4GB RAM for multitasking. To keep data and applications, you can use microSD hybrid slot, and 64GB internal storage as well.
Performance wise, you must have known it well. You can play heavy games on Nubia M2 pretty well. It earns 62 thousand points on AnTuTu benchmark. The sensors it carries are also complete, especially for virtual reality games.
I just want to inform that Nubia UI is pretty shocking. Looking at the appearance Nubia UI looks standard. This UI does not have app drawer page, and there are no theme selections.
However, behind the standard looking appearance, Nubia UI carries a lot of features.
What love is most is edge gesture? We can touch the edge of the screen for particular purposes. To run applications, clean up RAM, or set up the brightness.
Our 2nd most favourite feature is Screen split-up to divide the screen into two screens. This feature can be used for almost every application, except games. There is another feature, like touch gesture, dual apps, and super screenshot.
It is supported by Li-Po 3630 mAh battery with fast charging technology called Neo charge. The duration it takes is approximately similar to other fast charging smartphones, which is around 90 minutes.
Nubia packs M2’s good and bad in a good-looking smartphone, UI with various features and reliable camera. To appear more perfect, Nubia still has homework to improve its dual camera ability to capture bokeh that is still slobbery. If Nubia successfully improves it through software update then the price of this phone around 350 dollars will make sense. So, I personally suggest you that you should go with the Xiaomi Mi 6, I know this phone is little costly than the Nubia M2 but its amazing phone.
