Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Vs Moto G5S Plus
Hello, Guys! Today I’m going to do the in-depth comparison between Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Vs Moto G5S Plus. These two smartphones are very good phones in the around the 15,000 rupees or 240 dollars price range. You have three variants for the Redmi Note 4, the 10,000rs or $160 variant, the 11000rs or $175 variant, and the 12000rs or $190 variant which comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Motorola Moto G5S Plus coming in only in one variant 16000rs or $260 and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Now, a lot of things are similar on these smartphones. So, let’s find out-
Design & Build: –
Design wise, you would see that both smartphones are completely different in terms of design. You have curved edges on the Moto G5S Plus with a tapered rear panel and you also have a tapered rear panel on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. You would see that while the Moto G5S Plus comes with a design which is quite similar to the Moto M which was released earlier.
On the back side, you have a circular camera bump which has slide protection. On the other hand, you have a flat camera rear panel on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and it feels quite good as well.
The build quality, I would say this is one category where the Moto G5S Plus has a slightly better build than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. Moto G5S Plus made of a single block of metal while you have the unibody design on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 but the top and bottom panel constructed of plastic.
The other aspects you would see that the fingerprint scanner is on the back side on the Redmi Note 4 while it’s on the front side on the Moto G5S Plus. The power and volume buttons on the right side on both the smartphones. Both phones house the micro USB 2.0 charging slot and the speaker grille at the bottom panel. On the top, you have 3.5mm headphone jack on both the smartphones, additionally, you have an IR blaster on the Redmi Note 4.
Now the front panel, you have 5.5-inch Full HD displays on both phones and 2.5D curved glass looks pretty good.
Fingerprint Scanner: –
You have a fingerprint scanner located on the back side on the Redmi Note 4 while it’s on the front panel on the Moto G5S Plus. The Redmi Note 4 is faster in terms of the fingerprint scanner. You can also use the fingerprint scanner to lock apps on the Redmi Note 4 where is not available on the Moto G5S Plus.
Display quality looks pretty good on both smartphones, 1080p resolution displays, Full HD Panel, 2.5D glass and both have quite nice viewing angles colour quality. The sharpness levels on both the devices look pretty good. Usually, we have a Corning Gorilla Glass support on the Moto G5S Plus while it’s toughened glass on the Redmi Note 4. So, you could say both the smartphones are pretty nice in terms of display quality. Both phones perform pretty well even under bright sunlight. There is no clear winner in term of display department.
You have a 13-megapixel main camera on the Redmi Note 4 while the Dual 13-megapixel camera on the Moto G5S Plus. You have face detection Autofocus and dual tone LED flash on both the devices. Now, you have an 8-megapixel camera on the Moto G5S Plus while it’s a 5-megapixel selfie shooter on the Redmi Note 4.
Now, the camera UI looks pretty good on both the smartphones. It is pretty simple UI on the Moto G5S Plus while the feature-rich UI on the Redmi Note 4.
The Moto G5S Plus image quality is better than the Redmi Note 4 in terms of the daylight images, pretty good colour quality, sharpness elements and overall clarity looks better under Moto G5S Plus. The Redmi Note 4 is not a really good camera phone. It’s an average smartphone in terms of the camera performance. The Moto G5S Plus provides a better performance both in terms of the main camera and also the front camera where it’s an 8-megapixel shooter with LED flash as well. One area where the Moto G5S Plus is not great that is a low light performance which is kind of pretty much average.
Performance & Memory: –
Both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 clocked at Octa-Core processor. Both phones come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. Day to day performance both these phones are quite good, no major lags or issues and does the job pretty well in terms of multitasking.
I would say that the Moto G5S Plus with the Stock UI. It is slightly faster in terms of the Application loading but not a major difference though it does come with the Stock UI. So, there is definitely an advantage over the Redmi Note 4 but not a major difference as I said before.
The gaming performance of both the smartphones are pretty good, no major heating issue on both the devices. So, in terms of the performance, both smartphones are equally good. Maybe application performance slightly faster is Moto G5S Plus but not a huge margin.
This is one of the departments where you have a completely different UI. You have Stock UI on the Moto G5S Plus while you have the EMUI 8.5 which is on top of Android 7 on the Redmi Note 4. The Moto G5S Plus comes with 7.1.1 while it’s Android 7.0 on the Redmi Note 4. If you are the person who likes Stock UI. The Moto G5S Plus offers that experience you do not have any additional options or tools. You will see the Stock UI and you also get the Moto app which provides some additional options like Moto display and Moto Actions. So, these are the only options available other than that it’s plane and Stock UI.
If you’re a person who loves a lot of customizations then the Xiaomi EMUI offers tons of additional features. Go to the settings menu, a lot of additional features like Dual App Support, Light mode, Child Mode. Then you have additional options like second space and the supports for themes also included. So, you can do a lot of customizations with the Redmi Note 4. The EMUI offers that flexibility and it also will be getting the EMUI 9.
Multimedia & Connectivity: –
The call quality of both smartphones is good. Both devices come with Dual SIM cards and 4G LTE and VoLTE support. Both come with a dedicated microSD card. The speaker performance still located on the bottom panel is quite decent on both the phones.
You have a 3000 milliamp-hours battery with the Turbocharging on the Moto G5S Plus. While you have 4100 milliamp-hours battery on the Redmi Note 4. So, without a doubt, both smartphones are quite good in terms of the battery performance because they are powered by the Snapdragon 625 which is a power efficient chipset. But here we would say easily there are Redmi Note 4 wins with more than one and half days of battery life. While the Moto G5S Plus can get you almost a day of battery life.
So, which is the better smartphone to buy?
The Moto G5s Plus has a great Cameras, better software performance and it’s also upgradable to the next version and the build quality also looks pretty good on the Moto G5s Plus. While on the other hand the Redmi Note 4 comes with a better overall package with respect to the battery performance, the software is highly customizable and the pricing is also lower and it also comes with a good design and display as well.
So, out of these two smartphones, the Moto G5S Plus is priced at $250 for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. For that variant we get the Redmi Note 4 for $185, that’s almost 70 dollars difference between these two phones. So, obviously, the Redmi Note 4 offers better value package for money package but if you are worried about getting the latest software updates and also want a better camera then go for the Moto G5S Plus.
