Xiaomi Mi Note 3
Hello, Friends! Today I’m going to take a look at Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Review. Another day another Xiaomi smartphone today I’ve brand new Xiaomi Note 3 which looks just beautiful. It has quite nice specs but as always I’ll try to answer the question if this smartphone is worth the price. So, Let’s start-
Design & Build: –
If you are familiar with the Xiaomi smartphones you’ll probably see that the Xiaomi Note 3 looks almost identical to the Xiaomi Mi 6. In fact, it is really tough to tell the difference except for the fact that Xiaomi note 3 is a bit larger. And it now uses the matte metal frame instead of the glossy one found on the Xiaomi Mi 6. The Note 3 just looks beautiful and the build quality is nothing short of a true flagship.
However, I found the in Xiaomi Note 3 to be very slippery and I’m not going to talk about the fingerprints as they are very easy to clean.
The 5.5-inch display is now covered with a Gorilla Glass 4 for scratch resistance and I found it to be very sharp and vibrant both indoors and outdoors same as the Xiaomi Mi 6. This smartphone has a Dual Camera unit that consists of one 12-megapixel shooter with a wide-angle lens and another 12-megapixel sensor with the telephoto lens. That gives you 2 times optical zoom and the ability to take beautiful portrait images with that bokeh effect.
On the front side, you have a beefy 16-megapixels camera. Now, a few features, in a nutshell, the fingerprint scanner is super fast and accurate.
A few extra features include nicely backlit capacitive keys, a notification LED light, the IR blaster and a face recognition feature that works quite good but I always prefer using a fingerprint sensor. It’s just a faster way to unlock the device.
Note 3 has large 5.5-inches IPS LCD Full HD display with 1920 by 1080p resolution at 401 pixels per inch. The colour reproduction and contrast are good. The sunlight legibility is great. The viewing angles are also excellent.
You have a familiar Xiaomi Camera application that allows you to take pictures very fast. You can also play some basic shooting modes and settings, for example, you can adjust image properties using the manual mode or shoot slow-motion videos at 720p.
There is also 2 times lossless zoom mode that allows you to utilize that secondary camera sensor and this feature comes really handy. The outcome is quite nice definitely a lot better than using digital zoom.
The Portrait mode takes good-looking pictures with that bokeh effect but sometimes you may get a picture with a little bit unnatural looking blurred background.
When it comes to the picture quality using the auto mode Xiaomi Note 3 can take great pictures in good lighting. There is plenty of detail, the colours look nice and the noise reduction is pretty good. However, I found that the dynamic range adjustment is not always accurate.
The indoor and macro shots are great too, again there is lots of detail and get that nice bokeh effect because of the bright lens.
The low-light camera performance is decent but I would still love to see more details and less noise as always picky when it comes to camera performance.
The 4K video quality is great, the footage is detailed and the continuous autofocus feature works well. The colours look nice but they seem to be slightly oversaturated. Also, there are some video artefacts going on but in general, the video quality is excellent.
The 1080p video looks good too. Obviously, there is less detail but the optical image stabilization seems to do a better job than in 4K video mode.
The selfies look great and there is a lot of detail and the colours are accurate. However, the quality decreases quite dramatically in lower light situations.
The 1080p selfie video looks quite nice and the sound recording quality is decent yet not the best I’ve heard.
Performance & Memory: –
The Xiaomi Note 3 is not the most powerful smartphone out there but it still has great specs. the Note 3 ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6 gigs of RAM and either a 64 or 128 gigabytes of storage which is however not expandable.
The Gaming performance is excellent, no stutter, no skipped frames and even on the highest graphics in the 3D games I played and the device does not overheat.
The MIUI 8.5 is built on top of the Android 7.1 and Xiaomi Note 3 is basically one of the fastest Xiaomi smartphones I’ve tested. There are no Google services pre-installed but it takes just a minute to do that. The Xiaomi Note 3 just flies despite all the apps I installed and extra features that all Xiaomi smartphones have. You can customize the phone by changing themes, wallpapers, reasoning buttons and using other little tweaks and change a lot of different settings.
When it comes to connectivity, the Xiaomi Note 3 is just flawless. The call quality and signal reception have been great. The Wi-Fi range and speed are good. The Bluetooth works fine and finally, the GPS is very accurate. The device has NFC and a lot of sensors including Gyroscope so you’re all set in this category.
There is no 3.5mm headset jack but you can use the supplied adapter to connect your favourite headphones. The sound quality is just great. There is also stereo speaker unit that produces rich and balanced sound.
The Xiaomi Note 3 ships with a 3500 milliamp-hours that performs just excellent. I use my phone very intensively for taking a lot of pictures and shooting 4K videos, running benchmarks, installing a lot of applications and so on. And I still managed to get over 8 hours of screen on time. If you use the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 just for the basic stuff, you should be able to get 9 or even 10 hours of screen on time.
Keep in mind the SOT is always very subjective. Finally, the Xiaomi Note 3 ships with the fast charger. It takes about one and half hours to fully charge the device.
The Note 3 is a very solid and sturdy smartphone overall. I know it does not ship with the most powerful processor out there but I found it to be very fast and powerful enough to even handle 3D games. Also, the device simply looks beautiful, the display is sharp, the cameras are pretty good and the battery life is just good. Even though there is plenty of storage space some people will be disappointed by the lack of the microSD card slot. Also, there is no 3.5mm audio jack and the handset is very slippery so you may want to keep it in the case.
If you have no issue with these shortcomings the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is a perfect smartphone that offers a lot of flagship qualities for a lower price.
