Xiaomi Mi 5X
Hello, Friends! Today, I’m going to take a look at Xiaomi Mi 5X Review. Xiaomi officially announced the Mi 5X, it’s the latest Android powered smartphone that’s meant to compete in the mid-range segment of the market. Earlier we talked about Xiaomi Mi 5X and another flagship from the Chinese Xiaomi Mi 6. So, let’s started
Design wise, the Xiaomi Mi 5X is not looking original, it has like iPhone 7 Plus or OnePlus 5. As a result, Xiaomi Mi 5X received a pretty good design. The front of the phone is not easy to distinguish from the same Xiaomi Redmi 4 because of similar shapes and the same touch buttons under the screen. Unless corners of the case are smooth more strongly, Why, it does not seem as angular as and Redmi 4?
Behind the Xiaomi Mi 5X is already more original although it resembles the Xiaomi Mi 6 or Huawei Honor 8. This is due to the Dual cameras in the upper left corner and the circular fingerprint scanner. The control buttons are located as always. On the right side is volume key and lock key. On the left side is a slot for Dual SIM card.
At the bottom of the smartphone are 3.5mm headphone audio jack, USB Type-C port and speaker grill. I really like the design of Xiaomi Mi 5X. Here, you will not find any controversial points, for example, frameless screen or modular design. A new feature in the design of Xiaomi MI 5X is a dual camera on the rear panel.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X has a 5.5-inch screen with full HD resolution 1920 by 1080 pixels with a pixel density of 403 per inch. This is a fairly high figure for a clear picture. In addition, the manufacturer promises brightness up to 40 nits and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. It boasts of a 2.5D curved glass up front that feels good to use.
The display panel is similar as it predecessor but it is definitely brighter than the one last time around and hence the sunlight legibility has improved. The colour accuracy is better for a budget device. The display is quite good. The text and images are razor sharp and colours are quite vivid. The screen is a tad reflective although the viewing angles are great.
One of the main features of the Xiaomi Mi 5X is an advanced camera consisting of 2, 12-megapixels sensors. They are arranged in the manner of the iPhone 7 Plus and the Xiaomi Mi 6. You have a 12-megapixels wide-angle lens and you also have a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. That means you have the possibility to optical zoom of this device. There is also a portrait mode in there and that’s basically something, we’ve seen on the OnePlus 5 or the Mi6. The pictures that you’re gonna take with a portrait mode also look very good.
As for the camera app, it looks like all the other Xiaomi devices that we’ve seen in the past and mostly like the Xiaomi Mi 6 because the camera app is very similar to the Mi6. You have a lot of modes that you can change a whole bunch of settings and of course, we have a whole bunch of filters as well. The camera is also very quick. So overall the camera experience is very good and I don’t really have any complaints about it.
Of course like any other phone, you can use the 12-megapixels wide-angle lens to take regular pictures on auto mode. The pictures look absolutely amazing in my opinion, they’re very sharp with a lot of detail and the colours are nice and accurate as well. So an absolute pleasure looking at pictures taking, the Mi 5x in my opinion.
For night-time pictures, the phone still does better than a lot of other phones on the market. However, the pictures taking in low-light conditions are not absolutely perfect. You will see that the pictures start getting a bit greyish and blurry. But overall the quality of the pictures from this device it’s much better than a lot of phones on the market.
It is also known that the camera can record 4k video and slow-motion with a resolution of 1280 x 720p at the rate of 120 frames per second.
The front camera received a 5-megapixels. The camera application offers many different settings and modes, for example, Pro Mode allows you to adjust some image settings.
Performance & Memory: –
The Mi %x powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0 gigahertz and an integrated Adreno 506 GPU. The Xiaomi Mi 5X comes in RAM configuration of 4 gigabytes and 64 gigabytes of internal storage.
It is able to handle almost everything I throw at it. There is no lag switching between apps and while Multi tag browsing granted I was on the top-end variant with 4 gigabytes of RAM. Any applications and powerful games work at maximum settings.
As for gaming, I was able to play GTA San Andreas to the maximum settings and as you can probably see for yourself the phone doesn’t slow down at all. Now, the phone gets a bit hot around the fingerprint scanner that whenever you’re playing games. But that’s quite normal for pretty much all phones these days.
The GPS also works very well but that’s quite normal for most Xiaomi devices and using google maps also works without any issues.
The Xioami Mi 5X runs MIUI 8.5 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. On Mi 5X MIUI 8.5 is quite smooth and polished. With the internals, it packs the smartphone just breezes with MIUI 8.5 and even the usual system animations are a user experience delight. While an MIUI 8.5 has an improved dial around, it also boasts of a caller ID feature with information about the delivery stuff of online stores and local on-demand services.
Moving in between screens opening new apps, closing apps and even multitasking everything seems to work very good and that’s quite unusual for Xiaomi because new phones usually have a lot of bugs but I haven’t really found any bugs on this one. This one has access to the themes store so if you’re into customizing your phone, you definitely have a lot of options in that.
The messages app bundle similar messages into folders so texts from banks, service providers, online stores etc don’t’ clog up your inbox.
The phone supports 4G networks and has actually connected 4G networks for the entire time that I’ve used this phone. You also have Bluetooth, dual-band, Wi-Fi but the phone doesn’t have NFC.
The Mi 5X has a typical battery of 3080 milliamp hours. This is not particularly impressive after Xiaomi Redmi 4X or Redmi Note 4 with 4100 mAh batteries. However, this amount should be enough for a day of active work was even more during our act of testing. Xiaomi Mi 5X worked for 15-16 hours.
If you use a smartphone in a moderate mode as an ordinary user then you can expect for one and a half or two days. This smartphone is really high quality and reliable smartphone that will please its owner everyday using.
Xiaomi Mi 5x has become a new favourite budget phone from China and mostly because of the build quality and the awesome camera that you have on the back and of course the battery life and everything else. Only one thing I would change about this Phone would be the bezels around the screen. For less than $290 you get a powerful smartphone as well as stylish design, amazing dual camera, smooth and stable operating system and much more.
