Sony Xperia XZs
Hello! Guys, Today, I’m going to take a look at Sony Xperia XZs review. This model features nearly identical hardware to last year’s Xperia XZ but it comes with a new Camera that supports Super Slo-Mo. So does the camera justify the release of an entirely new device, Let’s find out, in our Xperia XZs review.
The design of this fine similar to the Xperia XZ which is great to look at and comfortable to use. But it’s not as flashy as other phones on the market. Sony has to stick to safe not revolutionary but it makes for a solid phone. The XZs easy to hold because of its curved sides. It has a super smooth matte back made of Sony’s Alkaloids aluminum alloy. There is Gorilla Glass in the front to the protect the screen. The phone’s got some great build quality and it looks to be very durable.
There a few things we’re glad to see on the Xperia XZs such as a 3.5mm audio jack, the USB-C port and the stereo speakers. There is a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button but if you’re buying it in the US, the feature is disabled. The reader’s accuracy and recognition are superb.
The device is water resistant and dust resistant which is IP68 grade but not completely waterproof. So, you can’t submerge it inside water but you can maybe take it out in the rain or wash it.
Sony hasn’t updated screen for a while but the 5.2-inch display is fantastic. It comes to dynamic contrast-enhanced for better clarity. The screen is sharp and brighter than average about a bright of the Xperia XZ and is more legible in direct sunlight than most.
Finally, we come to the centerpiece of this Phone the Camera. Sony redesigned the entire camera system since the XZ. It comes to the 19-megapixel in Motion Eye-Camera by Sony. It has a memory Stab Sensor which means that a direct layer of memory is accessible to the camera processing sensor. The pixel size on the new sensor is now almost 20% bigger. Sony also integrated D-RAM right into the center stack which allows capturing short video sequences at a whopping 960 frames per second.
The redesigned camera has other improvements as well such as no more rolling shooter when shooting a video and all-new predictive capture mode. Predictive capture means the camera starts capturing photos when it detects movements even before you click the shutter in my experience it didn’t work as reliably as expected. So for an automatic feature, I’m happy with the result.
Images taken from the front camera was okay. It has 13-megapixel Front-facing Camera with 22mm wide angle lens. It also has 5-axis stabilization.
The most attention-grabbing camera feature, however, has to be the Slo-Mo video mode. There are a few limitations that we’d like to get out of the way. First, videos are only 720p and the field of view is cropped to normal videos. you can only slow down really short segments of the normal footage and even though the video quality is generally good. You need plenty of life with such high-speed recording.
If the light is not enough the camera will crank up the ISO and you’ll get very noisy footage also the steps required to get the Slo-Mo recording mode or a bit complex despite these limitations we had a lot of fun shooting our videos. Slo-Mo videos aside we had high hopes for the new camera especially in corner sharpness, low-light shooting and dynamic range. Unfortunately, the real life results disappointed us in at least a few of these aspects, the processing including the colors has not changed since the Xperia XZ.
It has support 4k video, 4k videos have plenty of detail great contrast and accurate colors. There is no corner softness here. It is practically noise free and it looks natural. It can also praise the dynamic range.
Processor & Memory: –
The Xperia XZs supports a flagship chipset and it handles everything without a slow down. It comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-Core chipset. It comes with 4GB of RAM. It has a 64GB internal storage and supports microSD expansion up to 256GB.
The XZs runs Android version 7.0 Nougat and the system is quite lean. Sony has added a few twists on the top of the stock looks. you can download alternative themes if you don’t like the default style. You can swipe down on the Home screen to search for an app you’ve installed or got recommendations for new apps. One thing we do miss is the auto brightness toggle, great fans of Sony’s apps which include music, video, album, and Lifelog.
It has 2900 mAh battery. The battery capacity on the Xperia XZs is modest and it doesn’t charge terribly fast. It supports quick charge 3.0 but in my test, it only charged up to 40% in half an hour that’s slow considering battery capacity. In a battery test, the phone performed admirably quite impart with the Xperia XZ and I’m happy with the power efficiency.
This Phone is going to launch in around 50,000 rupees or 655 dollars. In this price I consider it to be an overpriced smartphone. It is good, it does offer you class-leading camera features. there are some things on this phone that are not on any other smartphone out there and you have the classic Sony design and few others things are also great about this phone. But it still does not take away the fact that it’s running an older chipset and there are few things bad about this phone.
SO guys, if you are looking out for a performance centric Phone which is cheaper you can go to the OnePlus 3T but if you are looking for a camera which offers you great features and then overall okay smartphone which is good, does look premium then the Sony Xperia XZs is the one for you.
