Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro
Hello, Friends! Today, I’m going to take a look at Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro Review. Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is the latest J series phone in India. This was announced along with J7 Max which I reviewed a few days ago. Now, this J7 Pro has great specifications for this pricing and this device is priced 20,900 rupees in India and 320 dollars for Internationally. So, let’s get started-
Design wise the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is definitely one of the good-looking devices out there. Samsung has done a bit of work in terms of design aspect you can see the tapered edges, rounded corners and the 2.5D glass give it a good feel altogether. Overall you would say this is one of the good design in the J series phones. You can suppose to see the antenna bands have been given a quite good look all together with a camera unit, Samsung Logo, the two antenna bands one at the top and bottom. You have the matte finish on rear panel looks good and this comes with black and gold.
On the right side, You have the speaker grill and the power keys. On the left side, you have the volume rocker keys and also the two SIM tray slots, one is simply SIM tray and another one comes with a dedicated microSD slot along with the SIM tray 2. Bottom side, this device comes out with the micro USB charging slot and 3.5mm headphone jack. On the top side, no openings or slots.
On the front panel, you have the 13-megapixels front camera with LED flash and the usual set of sensors and this is one of the few J series phones which comes loaded with all the sensors. It has proximity, gyro, compass etc. At the bottom panel, you have a physical home button which also acts as the fingerprint scanner and two capacitive touch buttons for back and multitasking.
The fingerprint scanner on this device is located on the front panel. It’s not the fastest fingerprint out there but it does a quite good job in unlocking the device. You can see it’s a quite a good fingerprint scanner and responsive.
J series phones have been known for Super AMOLED display most of the J series phone did come with the same panel. But the J7 max did not come with this panel. But you have the J7 Pro with the Super AMOLED panel and it comes with 2.5D curved glass but unfortunately, no protection has been offered on this display. The viewing angles are excellent and you can see that really good colour quality and the sharpness levels are really impressive.
Touch response of this phone also feels very smooth so the display is definitely one of the good aspects of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro. So, even in bright sunlight, we didn’t have any issues reading on this display. Additionally, you also have the blue light filter included so we can reduce the screen graph on your eyes.
This phone comes up with the 13-megapixels rear camera and also 13-megapixels front-facing camera. Now, looking at the camera interface is quite a similar camera interface which we have seen on other Samsung phone released in 2017. You have Auto Mode, Pro Mode, HDR, Night Mode and quite good options available. It is a swipe from the right side, you also have filters included. Now, this phone camera can record videos in 1080p both the front-facing camera and also the via camera can record in 1080p.
The colour quality was kind of slightly dull in nature at times but at times it does give a quite good a short end. Photo focus was not the fastest out there and it did take some time more to focus. So, overall the quality of the photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro.
This phone takes pictures quite decent in daylight conditions. And the low-light experience at the F/1.7 on this camera. The rear camera has top F/1.7 provides some really good light to allow in the photos and it’s pretty bright in low light experience and definitely one of the good smartphones with a low-light experience in this price segment.
Now, the front-facing selfie camera again was quite good. It did produce some really nice selfies out there. And if you are the selfie-focused person the J7 Pro definitely won’t disappoint you.
Performance & Memory: –
On the hardware side that this device is powered by the Exynos in-house chipset. That’s the 7870 Octa-Core coupled with three gigabyte RAM and 64-gigabyte storage. Now, the 7870 is not really a powerful chipset in this price segment and this is the same chipset which powers the Samsung Galaxy J7 Next. If you look at the benchmark score of this device again you could see that it’s not really as powerful as a Snapdragon 625 or some of another chipset in this price segment.
So, Exynos 7870 is a medium processor which provides quite good experience overall. The Samsung has optimized the device for quite good experience overall. We didn’t see any sort of lags or issues in day-to-day performance. It was responsive and the multitasking was also quite good on this device. You can see it’s pretty smooth multitasking and there were no issues whatsoever on this device. So, the performance is all around are quite good on this device even with the Exynos 7870 chipset.
Gaming experience with the high graphic which games were quite good there was hardly any lags or issues but here, slight frame skips didn’t happen but it is definitely a good gaming experience. We would say with a super AMOLED panel. The graphic quality was quite an acceptable level and does a quite good job with the gaming performance.
This is one of the few phones in the Galaxy 2017 from Samsung which comes with a new Samsung’s UI. So, if you look at the settings panel, you will see it’s more simple and clear UI and this comes with a lot of features included. It packs a lot of features if you go to the advanced settings you have the option to lock apps 100 UI is included then multi-window support.
You can have multiple windows running simultaneously easy mode then dual messenger service panic mode so some of the really good features available. Samsung also has included Samsung School Apps like a secure folder, a secure mode and some sense of health app and other core apps are also included.
There is much bloatware included and one of the few features in the J series phone is a Samsung Pay Support. So, Samsung pay makes an entry into the J series with this device and you can add its valid service basically. And you can add you’re a debit and credit cards, you can add money and you can make payments via the UPI. So, it also comes with a lot of offers for day-to-day usage.
So, the software of this device is definitely good. It’s a polished User-Interface feels are pretty fast and responsive. We didn’t see any sort of legs on this UI.
Multimedia & Connectivity: –
The speaker performance of this device was a quite decent. It’s not the loudest out there but it is quite a decent in terms of the music performance and there is also an equalizer option available in sound settings. Now, the call quality of this device is pretty good. There’s hardly any issues with signal strength and the supports of Dual SIM cards, 4G LTE, also voltage support out of the box.
The J7 Pro comes with 3600 mAh battery but unfortunately, there is no fast charging included in this device. But the battery performance of this device is quite good. And I found that you can easily get through almost close to one and half days of battery life on this device. So, battery life is definitely good and you get a good battery life even with moderate usage.
So, Sum up how would is the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro for a price of 20,900 rupees or 320 dollars.
Pros- The design and build are really good it’s one of the best-looking J-series phones ever and a Samsung has taken care of design and build quality. The Super AMOLED panel looks really good, it’s colourful vivid and offers great viewing angles. The new Samsung UI looks a pretty good a lot of features included and it feels pretty smooth enough usage as well in day-to-day experience.
Now, the phone offers 64 gigabytes storage in this price segment that’s again a good aspect. Now, the low-light experience of this device was again acceptable. The selfie experience was good and the battery performance was again pretty good in this price segment. It also comes with the Samsung Pay support that’s an additional feature.
Cons- First and foremost cons would be the pricing So Samsung has done a good job with almost all aspects but the pricing is slightly on the high side. It should have been around 17k rupees or 270 dollars price point because the 21k rupees or 320 dollars is slightly a steep pricing for the J7 Pro. Other than that the rear camera in daylight condition should have been better considering in this price. Also, the Exynos 7870 Octa-Core chipset is not really powerful chip.
So, if you really concerned about the pricing then I would suggest you look for other alternatives like the ease of ZenFone 3 or the Redmi Note 4.
