Hello, Friends! Today I’m going to take a look at the Oppo F7 Review. The Oppo F7 is the latest flagship device from the company, and this device announced in India. It comes with the price of 21990, and this is again a Selfie focus smartphone from Oppo in India. So, similar to the predecessor the Oppo F5, the Oppo F7 comes with a great Selfie camera and this camera all we have a 25-megapixel shooter included in the F7. So, how good is the F7 now overall as a smartphone in the sub 22k price segment so let’s find out in this detailed review.
Design & Build: –
Design wise; you will see that Oppo did a quite good job with looks of the device. Oppo F7 has the plastic back panel, it is quite a good finishing altogether, and you will see this phone as a premium smartphone.
On the left side, you have the volume keys and right-hand, you have the power button and also the SIM tray it’s a triple SIM card slot. On the bottom, you have a 3.5mm Headphone Jack, a micro USB charging slot, and also the speaker unit.
So, overall design feels quite good but what is not that great on this device which is the Plastic build quality. First the fingerprint magnet, you will see a lot of fingerprints attracted to the plastic material and secondly for a flagship experience we would have expected Oppo to go with metal construction and glass could have been a better option but Oppo has gone with the Plastic build, and it could scratch the back panel over period of use. So, that’s we have the concern we have with the Oppo F7’s build quality. But otherwise, it feels quite good looking device out there, especially with the bezel-less design and notch.
The Oppo F7 comes with a 6.23-inch Full HD Plus resolution display, and it has 19:9 aspect ratio. Since it has a notch, so the Oppo F7 falls into the 19:9 aspect ratio display. We have seen a lot of 18:9 ratio displays, but we have a notch included on the top, and it includes all the sensor and also the 25-megapixel selfie camera along with the earpiece. The display quality is pretty good, the Full HD Plus panel is pretty vibrant and colourful, and even great viewing angles. There’s also a Corning Gorilla Glass protection included in the display. So, overall display feels quite good in this price segment.
The F7 comes with a 25-megapixel selfie camera with IMX 576 Sony sensor, and it has the 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. The camera app has many options like AI mode, Sticker and a whole lot of options, Portrait and Bokeh also included.
We feel that the Oppo F7 did a pretty good job regarding detailing, sharpness levels and clarity of images and one of the good smartphones in this price segment. So, one of the other highlights of the camera is that it comes with a f/1.8 aperture that helps in pretty low-light performance.
Now, the selfie performance again is pretty good and one of the best selfie smartphones in the 22k price range, and it did good in the Bokeh shots as well. So, overall if you are a person who likes taking a lot of selfies, this is one of the best smartphones in this price segment.
Now, the disappointing point of the camera department, there’s no 4K video recording. So, that’s the detail of the camera of the Oppo F7.
It is one of the surprising aspects of the Oppo F7, the previous Oppo devices run on the MediaTek chipsets, but they were not excellent regarding performance, and the gaming was also not that great. Coming to the Oppo F7, the company has used the latest MediaTek chipset which is Helio P60 Octa-Core four core Cortex-A73, and this chipset was announced at MWC 2018, and this chipset is powerful chipset in this price segment. When I did benchmarks test on this device, I got excellent scores.
The performance of the Oppo F7 is excellent, and the gaming experience on this device is also great. We also did a full gaming performance, and I like previous post devices there are no significant issues, and heating was not there. The overall experience with gaming was pretty good on the Oppo F7.
This smartphone comes with a Dual SIM card, and there’s also dedicated SD card slot so this slot available on the right side, it’s a triple slot. There’s also 4G LTE and VoLTE support.
Biometrics & Security: –
Now, talking about the fingerprint scanner experienced, one of the fastest fingerprint scanners you will see it does an outstanding job. Also, there’s Face Unlock functionality which is also good.
The Oppo F7 comes with an Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and this is the custom UI called ColorOS, and if you look at the UI, you can see that this offers additional options or features and we have seen Color Os in other Oppo’s smartphones as well. It has the ColorOS 5.0, and it provides quite good features included you have the smart and convenient options like you have the option to customise the navigation keys, there is the On-screen Assistant, and there’s Full-screen multi-tasking, and it supports gestures as well.
You also have the option of Cloning Apps it is a dual app support application, Split-screen mode, theme store and full-screen recording. So, these are some beneficial features in the Oppo ColorOS. It’s not as polished as the EMUI or MIUI, and it doesn’t feel that great when you are using this device especially with the icons and overall looking.
The Oppo F7 ships with a 3400 milliamp-hours battery but unfortunately there’s no fast charging on this device. So, this is one of the disappointing aspects, but the battery performance overall is quite good. You can quickly get around 1 and half days of battery life with moderate usage.
So, how good is the Oppo F7 in the 22k price segment?
Pros- Oppo F7 includes a premium looking bezel-less design, great display, good performance and there’s triple slot, good camera performance the rear and front camera did a pretty good job, and the battery performance is also pretty good.
Cons- The downside included the Color OS is not very exciting to use, there’s lack of fast charging, build quality is not that great, there’s no 4K recording, and also the price is slightly high.
So, overall we feel Oppo did a quite good job with proper specifications itself.
