Hello! Guys, Today I’m going to take a look at the review of OnePlus 3T.
Just like it predecessor, The OnePlus 3T feels quite premium. The aluminum unique body design gives an assuring feel to the user and sure looks durable. It can withstand minor shocks and drops without denting or scratching. The matte finish looks premium and the device fits snugly in the palm of your hand. The camera lens cover now gets a sapphire treatment which gives it additional protection and the display is protected by Gorilla glass 4. OnePlus also provide a Pre-applied screen protector for additional safety.
Home Button: –
The home button is capacitive and you can assign actions for long press or double tap on it. The same applies to the back and recent button as well. There are a few optional gestures like double tap to wake, and drawing characters to execute certain functions while the display is off.
The active fingerprints scanner beneath the capacitive home button works amazingly well and unlocks the device without any delay or error.
There’s also a proximity wake function which turns the display on when you wave your hand over the phone screen And speaking of the display, it’s really awesome 5.5inch full HD AMOLED display. The colors just look amazing. The deep blacks and the vibrant shades provide high contrast levels to the display. You’ll surely love to watching movies and gaming on the 3T. The display is fairly easy to read even in bright sunlight and also offers a customizable night mode to reduce eye fatigue in the dark. You can customize the system with a dark theme as well.
Networks, Sensors & Other: –
The OnePlus 3T is sure to keep you online all day, And while doing so it offers an excellent signal reception for cellular networks, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It supports dual SIM and dual standby The NFC sensor also works fairly well. Call audio quality is really nice and the microphone cancels out most of the noise on calls.
The loudspeaker on this device lacks bass but is great for vocals and treble notes, So surely not for the audio files. But the 3T makes up for that by providing high-quality audio via the 3.5mm headphone jack which we tested using multiple decent headphones and some high quality lossless audio files.
Another major improvement is the 16MP front camera, which has been now bumped up from the 8MP unit on the OnePlus 3. It surely clicks nice selfies and low light performance is much better than other smartphones within the 3T’s price range. It also features electronic image stabilization for stable photos and jerks free videos and it also comes with an auto smile capture mode. It also comes with the beauty mode which reduces skin blemishes and dark spots up to some extent. Selfie lovers will surely love the camera on the Oneplus 3T.
The 16MP rear camera is even better than the front one since it has a better sensor and supports optical image stabilization, Electronic image stabilization, and phase detection autofocus. Color reproduction of this unit is great and videos turn out to be really stable. It also supports High quality and HDR mode. The HQ mode provides a higher quality image with reduces noise levels, while HDR modes bring in a balance between the darkest and the brightest sports in the image.
You cannot use both these modes with flash, But never the less, this camera is an excellent shooter and in any case. It captures the great level of detail and excellent shots, even in low light. The camera focuses on any object instantly and estimates the depth of field fairly well. There’s also a manual mode for still photography which gives you DSLR-like controls for adjusting the ISO, Exposure, Focus and shutter speed and you can save the images in RAW format for further editing as well.
The 3T is able to capture videos in 4K @30fps but video recording in Ultra HD is limited to 10 minutes. I find that 1080p @ 60fps setting provides the best video output. OIS and EIS help stabilize the videos greatly.
Processor & Memory: –
Not only is this phone elegant looking but it performs elegantly as well. It features a Snapdragon 821 Quad-Core processor coupled with ADRENO 530 GPU and a whopping 6GB of (LPDDR4) RAM which ensures smooth execution of all tasks thrown at it. And this phone doesn’t seem to run out of breath, even with multiple memory intensive apps and games running simultaneously, thanks to the 6GB of RAM.
The OnePlus 3T provides super smooth frame rates while gaming. The OnePlus 3T scores 156190, which puts it’s very well high above the smartphones that are priced similarly. In fact, its pretty close to the iPhone 7 and The iPhone 7 plus.
The 3T comes preloaded with oxygen OS running on top of android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, though, it was expected to be shipped with Android Nougat out of the box. But, no issues since OnePlus has now gradually started rolling out the Nougat update for the 3T. The OS is clean, stick, free of bloatware and customizable as well and using it is a nice experience.
OnePlus sure knows to get its claims right. Isn’t that just amazing for a phone with a nifty 3400mAh battery capacity? In my tests, we got the battery to last easily for a day and a half under heavy usage which includes gaming, surfing, YouTube Videos, Music all while being connected to Wi-Fi and cellular network at all times even under light use, it easily lasts for 2 days.
This phone can provide up to 25 mins of continuous usage even with less 55 battery remaining and that too without power saver enabled, So you get the idea how much it would last in an emergency situation. I think OnePlus 3T is the fastest charging smartphone as of now and it would be really nice to see such awesome charging and power management capabilities coming to other smartphones as well.
Even with an increase in battery capacity (3000 to 3400 mAh). the dimensions and weights still remain the same which is quite impressive. The OnePlus 3T comes in two storage options (64GB/128GB) and the existing Graphite color has been replaced by darker gunmetal shade, which looks really cool.
Note: – the soft gold variant is available only in the 64GB storage configuration.

So, finally we come to our conclusion, what kind of users is the OnePlus 3T for?
Well, if you are already using the OnePlus 3, it’ll okay to wait for the next update from OnePlus. But if you really want the latest flagship, The 3T can serve as a powerful business phone, Due to its amazing camera and display, it also doubles up as a powerful media device. It also looks good and feels premium and can easily get you throughout the day on a single charge. And all of this is packed in the OnePlus 3T at an attractive price and offers far more than similarly priced smartphones.
So, I’d say, it’s definitely worth considering.
