Motorola Play Specs
Hello! Guys, Today, I’m going to talk about Motorola Play Specs. Who people want to buy this smartphone but because of lack of guidance, they are confused. So, for those people here honestly, I’ll give you the honest conclusion. So let’s take look-
Firstly I’m going to talk about the design, The phone is covered by 2 pieces of glasses and surrounded by a metal bumper with dual side chamfer edges. No doubt, this is one of the best build quality smartphone out there. I feel premium when holding in my hand. When we mentioned both side of glasses that also means, it is a fingerprint magnet but this can be solved easily. We will talk more about later.
The button placement is not quite ergonomic, especially for a small hand. Although you might among the volume rocker and power button when looking at their size but Lenovo has done a sweet thing be putting a different surface for the power button. So, you can actually found which is the power button without looking at it.
Unlike the hybrid SIM slot that we usually see in another smartphone. We can actually put in 2 SIM card and a microSD card in Moto Z Play instead of giving up a SIM card slot for a MicroSD Card.
It is USB type-c the new standard. When we look at the back of the body, there are 2 things that people usually notice. The super big camera bump and the connector pin. they look pretty weird for me. But, I know the bump actually functions as a point to align the Moto Modes and the connector pin.
Fortunately, Lenovo provides a back cover which comes along with the phone to cover up the connector pin and camera bump. Also no more fingerprint, yet, it looks pretty stylish.
Under the 2.5D glass, We have a 5.5inch full HD AMOLED display panel which is having 403ppi. However, it is a good full HD display. You will not gonna notice the pixel with your naked eyes at a normal viewing distance. When we say it is an AMOLED panel that also means the black is really really black with no light leaking issue. We have no problem ti view the screen in every angle.
The color is accurate, not over saturated and maintaining at a certain level of contrast. it is a bit on the cooler side, but just slightly. Unfortunately, there is no option to adjust the color temperature ur change to SRGB mode. The brightness is doing well, Don’t matter it is in indoor or under the direct sunlight. Anyway, I will not say this is the best AMOLED panel but definitely, this is above average. While I was using this device as my daily driver.
The day to day usage performance is snappy. The response is fast and you not gonna notice much different between the mid-range and flagship processor. However, I feel some lacks while I playing the low graphic intensive game. but somehow, it works quite well for the higher intensive on such as Asphalt 8. I won’t say it performs as good as a flagship device but definitely is not far behind.
Home button: –
This home button, it is not a button but just a fingerprint scanner and it doesn’t work as a home button. The fingerprint reading is accurate for than 90% during out test period. this speed is fast, but not the fastest out there. It doesn’t only can wake your screen up and unlock the device. it can also put the phone into sleep. If you hold the scanner for a little longer this is a standout feature and definitely, I’m gonna miss this. After changing my daily driver to the another.
The earpiece also acts as a speaker. It is loud and more clear importantly, it is front facing. Front facing speaker is always better than the rear and bottom firing speaker. One of the most interesting parts of this phone is the Moto Modes. There are a few Moto Modes out there. bot today we have the JBL speaker. In just a snap, we can attach the speaker to the phone. Now, the volume is the way louder.
This Moto Z Play phone houses a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone dual LED flash without OIS. In the past, Moto phone doesn’t stand out in the camera section. unfortunately, this still happens today. The camera of Moto Z Play is just average. It performs quite well under the sunlight. But struggled a little bit in low light. the color is quite accurate with a bit of saturation.
In overall, It can still get the jobs done. Under the low light, it will take a little bit longer to trigger the shutter. It is probably due to the lacking of OIS and the sensor needs a longer shutter speed to capture the light. We have 5MP front-facing camera with single LED flash. Well, it doesn’t really attract me because it usually creates some kinds of weird lighting photo. But for some of you, it might be useful.
The software experience is pretty good so far. The respond is fast, at almost instant. It is running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and I believe Nougat is on its way. The interface is clean, almost like a stock android but with a few useful tweaks by Moto such as wave your hand to trigger Moto display. Chop Chop to turn on or off the flashlight. Twist the phone twice to open the camera app. One of the best decision from Lenovo is they are actually using Google’s stock app as their default app.
If you’re worried about the battery life, you don’t have to. The Moto Mods usually carry their own battery And from here you can actually read the battery percentage left for the particular Modes. By the way, I’m using the clock widget from the Moto Z force. Other than the price point, people usually will take this into consideration when they are picking between Moto Z and Moto Z Play. It is a battery life. The 3500 mAh of the battery is huge enough to power this device.
Together with the 625 processor, the battery life is amazing. It can last me through 1 and a half to 2 days with a single charge. with my regular usage, it usually gave me around 6 hours of screen on time.
Motorola Moto Z Play (32GB) Price- @amazone Rs. 24,999 ($ 374.43), (64GB) Price- Rs. 39,999 ($ 599.10)
Motorola Moto Z Play (32GB) Price- @flipkart Rs. 24,999 ($ 374.43), (64GB) Price- Rs. 39,999 ($ 599.10)
In my opinion, Moto Z Play is a battery monster which offers a long battery life and allows the user to spend more time on the phone after a single charge. Together with Snapdragon 625 chip, it creates a balance between performance and battery life. It snaps average quality of photo having above average quality of AMOLED panel. And more importantly the same ability of Moto Z to attach the Moto Mods.
I personally feel the drawback for this phone would be the big camera bump and also exposing the connecting pin which makes the phone little bit weird. but of course, we can avoid this by putting on the back plate which comes along with.
