Hello, Friends! Today I’m going to discuss the full specifications comparison between the Huawei Nova 2i Vs Oppo F5. Mid-range phones nowadays pack features normally found in high-end devices like Premium Designs, 18 by 9 ratio displays and Big RAM. So, here we have two mid-range devices with high-end specs Huawei Nova 2i and Oppo F5. Now, I’m going to a deep comparison between both smartphones and we will also see which smartphone is better. The Oppo F5 was officially launched recently in November 2017. The device is Oppo sleekest phone to date as they want for a form factor and design language that became a standard this year. An 18:9 ratio display, small bezels, curved edges and a Unibody design. This smartphone even has a nice and well-made matte finish polished back panel that might fool users into thinking it has a metal backplate.
The Huawei Nova 2i is a Huawei’s first phone to have an 18:9 aspect ratio display. This 5.9-inch smartphone comes with a 2.5D curved glass display and an all-metal unibody design. Even for its size, it’s still manageable and comfortable because of its screen with an 82% screen to body ratio. The Huawei Nova 2i feels solid and premium due to its metal body and gives off that classic vibe with its matte finish.
The Oppo F5 has a 6-inch IPS Full HD display with a resolution of 2160 by 1080p which gives it a pixel density of 402 PPI.
The Nova 2i, on the other hand, has a 5.9-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a 2160 x 1080p resolution which gives it a pixel density of 409 PPI.
As we’ve said earlier both phones have an 18 by 9 aspect ratio screen. As for screen protection, the Oppo F5 has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 while the Nova 2i protection was not specified.
Both smartphone displays offer good viewing experience. For their memory and internal storage the F5 and Huawei Nova 2i, both carry 4GB RAM. However, for base model only has 32 gigabytes of storage which is expandable to 64GB. The advantage of Oppo F5 despite it’s smaller internal storage is, it’s dedicated microSD card slot which the Nova 2i doesn’t have since it uses a Hybrid SIM setup.
One of the main features of the F5 is its camera. It has a 16-megapixel main shooter and a 20-megapixel front shooter for selfies. F5’s cameras are packed with features like HDR, time-lapse, Panorama, Expert with Ultra HD Mode, 2x digital zoom, Filters, Watermark and Beauty. The front camera has exclusive features called Depth effect and Screen flash.
The F5 comes with a new technology called AI beautification and standard facial recognition, the device front camera can recognize more than 200 points in the User’s face including the eyes, cheeks, nose and lips to identify which parts need enhancing. Oppo then uses its database of facial features to make the necessary adjustments for the more natural result.
On the other hand, The Nova 2i has a Quad Camera setup which means it has dual rear and front cameras. Its Rear camera contains a 16-megapixel shooter and an additional 2-megapixel for depth of field. For the front, it is equipped with a 13-megapixel sensor and another 2-megapixel sensor one for bokeh effects. Both Rear and Front cameras are accompanied by LED flashes. The Rear camera of the Nova 2i can shoot up to 16 by 9 or 18 by 9 aspect ratios. For all images can be taken under smartphones Pro Mode.
Performance & Memory: –
The Oppo F5 carries a MediaTek Helio P23 chipset with the Mali G71 GPU. On the other hand, the Nova 2i has HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset with a Mali T830 GPU.
Benchmark results, the AnTuTu benchmarks of the Oppo F5 got a slightly higher score than the Huawei Nova 2i. Well, not far apart on their numbers Oppo’s device has the advantage here.
As for the gaming performance the F5 edges of Nova 2i due to it’s more powerful GPU.
The F5 runs on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Oppo scholar OS 3.2 while the Nova 2i runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Huawei’s EMUI 5.1. There is only significant difference is the OS mods that they use.
Oppo F5 has 3200 milliamp-hours battery while the Huawei Nova 2i has a 3340 milliamp-hours battery. We tested both smartphones using PC Mark’s battery test, the F5 lasted for 13 hours and 8 minutes while the Nova 2i only lasted for 8 hours and 46 minutes. Battery life can be attributed and multiple factors such as the display, chipset, battery capacity and operating system. Both this place is almost identical and their battery capacities are not that far which means that the architectures of the F5’s chipset is more optimized and power efficient than of the Huawei Nova 2i.
Overall, the Oppo F5 has Corning Gorilla Glass Protection, a better performing Processor and GPU, a dedicated micro SD card slot, a higher front camera resolution, AI beautification technology, Facial Recognition, Gyroscope sensor which is good for VR games and other navigation purposes and a longer-lasting battery life.
On the other hand, the Huawei Nova 2i has a larger internal storage and a Quad camera setup, we do have to mention that the device has 4G voice over LTE which provides the user with better call quality. The F5 priced at 19,990rs or 310 dollars while the Nova 2i is priced at 22,990rs or 360 dollars. So, clearly, the Oppo F5 is the better smartphone than the Huawei Nova 2i.
