Huawei Mate 10 Pro Review, Full Phone Specifications, Current Price, and Conclusion

Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Introduction: –

Hello, Guys! Today I’m going to do a review on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Huawei has released a brand new Mate 10 series. Obviously, I prefer the Huawei Mate 10 Pro because it has a larger display and more power.

In 2017 AI is one of the biggest topics and smartphone innovation and they’re having so-called Artificial Intelligence in our smartphones. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is the first phone coming up the new HiSilicon Kirin 970 which comes with dedicated neural processing unit also called NPU or AI. So, let’s get start-

Design & Build: –

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Design Review

The design of the phone is really good. You have small bezels, small chin and all know a good display to body ratio. The materials are really premium, this time you have glass on the rear panel which looks great but it’s a huge fingerprint magnet. The volume rockers and power key are placed on the right hand of the device. At the top, you have an IR blaster to control things like your TV or Air Condition. At the bottom, there is a type-C port and the speaker grille which sounds well balanced and offers a bit of bass.

So, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro feels a bit smaller than the display size would suggest. Though the small curves on the back often improved in the hand feel. On the back side, you have a fingerprint scanner and a branded dual camera system. How I claimed that the fingerprint scanner has a recognition time of 0.3 seconds. It feels incredibly fast, probably one of the best fingerprint scanners I’ve used.

Display: –

Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a bit different to the normal Mate 10 and bit more expensive. This smartphone follows this year’s flagship trend with always first Full view display. That means narrow bezels and an 18 by 9 display ratio which makes 6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panels possible in an even smaller body.

The display support HDR compliant looks fantastic. So, finally, also Huawei is using the OLED panel in the flagships which have great colours, contrast and viewing angles. It’s not a 2K display but to be honest I like it because it allows you having a longer battery life.

The display looks very good and watching movies on the 6-inch phone is a pleasure. Finally, the latest Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphone also supports HDR 10 which in a nutshell provides superb contrast with prior to hues darker shades and great. The colour depth resulting in vibrant lifelike images pictures that pop on the screen.

Camera: –

Huawei Mate 10 Pro main Camera Review

The Dual cameras on the backside feature the main sensor with 12-megapixel RGB and with optical image stabilization and a secondary camera is a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is the first to have f/1.6 aperture on both lenses and always says that this allows to let 90% more light in than the previous Huawei Mate Phones and gives a big advantage in low-light photography.

The images results are looking pretty good for the release software and as always this is going to improve a lot especially the noise reduction in low-light. We did basically see a huge improvement on the last year’s P series. The previous Huawei Smartphones they come with a range of modes including Portrait mode a wide aperture mode which lets you change the aperture before or after you take the picture. And several modes dedicated to low-light photography and also love the manual video modes and the ability to take raw images in manual modes.

There’s also a 4 in 1 hybrid zoom feature that aims to take the additional data provided by the larger monochrome sensor and use it for lossless zoom.

That camera takes really good pictures in daylight but keeps in mind that the phone runs on that pre-release software. In fact, I have an advanced release software that means both the device and software may differ when it is made available to consumers. There are manual 2 times optical zoom and portrait modes that take pretty good images. The 4K video looks quite sharp and detailed.

Performance & Memory: –

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Processor Review

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 970 which clocked at Octa-Core processor. This smartphone comes with two variant one in 4 gigabytes RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage, 2nd one is 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage. It doesn’t come with a micro SD card while the standard Mate 10 Pro does.

Performance wise, as always this phone is great I could play the latest games of high frame rate and the highest graphics without a problem. The phone is really fast and responsive and I’ve installed many apps like I always do, I found there is better performance in the open and close the apps and the apps are working very smooth. So, definitely one of the fastest Android device right now.

Software: –

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro ships with the Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box but it has the EMUI skin built on top of it. As usual, Huawei founds there are plenty of features and customization options to make the phone look your own. This UI feels really like a different universe so it’s very snappy uses less than 50% RAM and applications open up super fast. Huawei also claims that the UI stays fast for at least 18 months because most of the phones slow down over the time. In the beginning, when I had to Mate 9, I didn’t like UI so much but now I could use to it and I kind of like it because it packs a lot of smart and great features like App Cloning, built-in screen recording, lots of gestures and easy customizability with themes and software tweaks.

AI: –

The biggest feature of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is AI chip, but many people don’t even know what AI is and how this can improve our daily life. So, as a global leading player like Huawei, I think It’s very important to drive new technologies and that’s why they are among the first to implement it. The AI benefits are mostly seen during day to day use and help you simple tasks and make a workflow and life faster and easier. So far he says that the NPU allows it to understand and react to the context of a user’s action and provide recommendations to help.

AI rocking the Mate 10 cameras when you point Mate 10 cameras at an object it recognizes the subject and automatically adjusts the settings. So, it will not only tweak things like an ISO exposure compensation and white balance in real-time but also to post-processing effects as well. Same goes for the front-facing camera where the AI helps a lot to recognize faces better and get the bokeh mode and done correctly. When you reading a book the NPU will also remind users to enable eye-comfort mode so like how is a blue light filter on taking a picture of a business card. The NPU will offer to scan the details in your phone book.

So our phones are getting smarter and smarter and in the future. AI will help us a lot to make simple tasks easier and faster. Also, it’s very cool that the translation feature which translates the text of camera is way more accurate than the previous versions.

Connectivity: –

Connectivity wise, I had no issues until now, great GPS lock timing signal, blazing fast WiFi and good 3G and 4G speeds due to the support of data speeds of up to 1.2 gigabit per second.

Dust/Water Resistance: –

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro offers IP67 dust and water resistance and providing durability that has been missing on previous Huawei flagship phones through the Huawei Mate 10 Pro does not. And also the Mate 10 series offers Dual SIM support of voice over LTE.

Battery: –

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Battery Life Review

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro packs massive 4000 milliamp-hours battery inside which can be recharged extremely fast with Huawei’s new safe supercharge. I’ve tested it under a claim of 59% in 30 minutes it’s absolutely true. So, that makes the phone the fastest charging device I’ve tested until today. The battery life of the latest update is good and lasts me a full day but to give you exact numbers.

They’ve also the first smartphones to enter and certified for the battery safety by the German certification organization TUV Rheinland. Meaning the cells are tested on their own as well as inside the Phones.

Conclusion: –

Overall, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro ships up to be quite an impressive all-around device. It packs great hardware including a dedicated AI chip a compelling to old camera setup. The battery life performance is great and it supports fast charging without getting hot. I really like they have co-operation of LEICA even though it’s also marketing but yet they work pretty good together and having a 1.6 aperture on both lenses are just incredible. This smartphone gives you a lot of abilities and this combined with the AI will get pretty awesome in 2018. The form factor of this smartphone is so much better and you have a good display to body ratio. The 6-inch display is a great size for enjoying media. So, for me, this is a great smartphone in around $940.
