LG G6 vs iPhone 7 Plus

Introduction: –

Hello! Guys, Today I’m going to do a full comparison between LG G6 vs iPhone 7 Plus just to give you a perspective. The iPhone 7 Plus was released in September 2016 while the LG G6 in April 2017. SO there is a 6 months gap between the two devices in this comparison I will do a deep dive and compare every aspect of the iPhone 7 Plus vs LG G6. So that anyone who is wondering shall I get the LG G6 or the iPhone 7 Plus I’ll get a solid answer as to which one is the better choice. SO let’s dive in and start with-

Design: –

iPhone 7 Plus design review

The iPhone 7 Plus is constructed with aluminum and offers a sleek and smooth design language. It is a great looking device and offers a premium sensation when you hold it in your hand. It has IP67 grade water resistance, No headphone jack and two stereo speakers that certainly produce loud and rich sound.

LG G6 design review

The LG G6 is crafted out of metal with glass backing so on the rear you have actually had a metal frame which has a glass overlay. In the hand, it does feel premium but more so than that it feels rock solid which is not surprising as the LG G6 is designed to be a durable smartphone.

The phone has an IP68 grade water resistance which is better than the iPhone 7 Plus and it also has a headphone jack. However, the LG G6 only has one speaker at the bottom and they do not sound as good as the iPhone 7.

When I look at both phones sitting side by side my personal opinion is that the iPhone 7 Plus looks sleeker. But when I hold the phones in hand the LG G6 feels more compact, more solid and more secure possibly because it has a smaller form factor.

And the LG measures 148.9mm in height, 71.9mm wide and 7.9mm thick, It weighs 160g. On the flip side the iPhone 7 plus measures 158.2mm height, 77.9mm wide and 7.3mm thick It weighs 188g. So clearly the LG G6 has a smaller form factor. There is no home button on the front of the LG G6 and the power button is to be found on the rear with an integrated fingerprint sensor position in the middle right underneath the dual camera setup.

Display: –

This allows the G6 to make more room for a 5.7-inch display that is actually larger than the iPhone 7 Plus is 5.5-inch display. Yet the LG G6 is physically smaller and lighter. The combination of a smaller form factor and a larger display give the G6 a big deal in overall ergonomics. Not only that the LG G6 has a superior screen than the iPhone 7 Plus.

LG G6 display review

The G6 sports a 5.7inch LCD display with Quad HD+ Resolution which is 1440 x 2880 bringing the PPI as to 564. On the other hand, The iPhone 7 Plus has a full high definition resolution which is 1080 x 1920 with screen PPI of 401.

Now I’m not saying that the iPhone 7 Plus display is not good. It actually is world class display which is bright, vibrant and has an extremely accurate color reproduction. But the LG G6 is simply better it’s sharper, larger and certainly a more vibrant display.

Now perhaps for basic day-to-day use, it wont to make much of a difference but when you zoom in on photos or try to enjoy the extra high-resolution content. It will be the sharper display. G6 also has Dolby vision which is another term for HDR capabilities. So in the display, the LG G6 certainly had the lead.

Camera: –

iPhone 7 Plus camera review

Let’s move on to Camera, you should be aware that both LG G6 and iPhone 7 Plus have two built-in cameras. The iPhone 7 Plus has a standard angle 12-megapixel camera with an aperture of F/1.8 and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with an aperture of F/2.8. The LG G6 has 13-megapixel standard angle camera with an aperture of F/1.8 and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with an aperture of F2.4. So phones have a standard angle lens which allows you to take regular photos.

But the LG G6 allows you to take super wide angle shots. And iPhone 7 Plus allows you to use 2-times optical zoom using its telephoto camera. So basically you can zoom on stuff without loosing quality.

As for the video, both phones are fully capable of recording in 4k or 1080p as well as slow motion video.

Now those of you, who deeply care about the camera to the point of nitpicking every nook and cranny. I will let you know that the iPhone 7 Plus overall has the better camera quality.

Processor & Memory: –

Now let’s move on to the processor, The LG G6 sports a Quad-Core Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It also had an SD expansion slot with the capability to add up to 256GB of extra storage. The iPhone 7 Plus has an A10 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage on the base model. It does not have an SD expansion slot.

Software: –

So, Now let’s move on to the software, in this department you are essentially comparing iOS to Android. G6 runs on Android and iPhone runs on iOS. Android is an open-ended system which makes high levels of customization possible. While iOS is a closed-ended system with minimum amounts of customization mostly it is a just static grid of app icons and all you can do is change your wallpaper. So you can forget about personalizing the software interface of your iPhone 7 plus but you can certainly freestyle with the LG G6.

However, iOS will almost certainly offer you superior apps and games. Because the apps and games that come out of the Apple App Store are simply better than what you get from the Google Play Store. This is especially true of gaming apps which simply run smoother and leg-free on the iPhone 7 Plus. The LG G6 is certainly richer in software capabilities it has split screen multitasking. Where you can run two apps side by side and it uses Google Assistant as its voice assistant which is superior to Siri.

Now the iPhone 7 Plus does have 3D touch which is a pressure sensitive screen that which allows you to access quick actions and other gestures. So basically if you are looking more flexible system LG G6 is the way to go. But if you are looking to high-quality apps and best gaming experience iPhone 7 Plus is probably the better way to go.

Battery: –

Now let’s move on to the battery, Both the iPhone 7 Plus and LG G6 have surprisingly good battery life and will last you a full day of use with a single full charge that’s all great. The LG G6 has super fast charging capabilities and it has also wireless charging option. So LG gives more options to charge your phone hence it takes the win this category.

Performance: –

When I have used the Geekbench for benchmarking tool to measure the raw processing and memory performance and after got the results, The iPhone both in the single-core score and multi-core score had a significant lead over the LG G6.

Conclusion: –

Finally, it is time for conclusion So it is time to tell you which phone is a better buy. let’s take a look at the facts based on what I talked about so far- department after department the LG G6 appears to be the more technologically advanced phone. It’s smaller and lighter yet, it has a larger display not only that it actually has a better display.

It has the microSD storage expansion option, Offers fast charging and wireless charging none of which the iPhone 7 Plus. Does it even have a higher grade water resistance? SO it’s very easy for me to say that the LG G6 is the more feature-packed package.

Both have great overall performance and a unique camera setup and iPhone does have two high fidelity stereo speakers while the LG G6 only has one speaker. As for software, it all depends on you. So in light of the facts, I am compelled to recommend the LG G6 over the iPhone 7 Plus.
