Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Vs Honor 9 Lite

Introduction: –

Hello, Folks! Today I’m going to make a detailed specifications comparison between the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Vs Honor 9 Lite. So, these two phone priced below the 15k price segment and we have a 3 gigabyte RAM of these two devices rated the same the 10,999 pricing, and in this discussion, we’ll analyse different aspects of these two devices to see which is the better device out of these two smartphones in the budget segment. So, let’s start-

Design & Build: –

The Honor 9 Lite is a better-looking device out there with glass finishing and feels a bit more premium with the glass finish on the back panel, and the camera unit and the overall form factor also feels quite nice. It has a 5.65-inch display while we have a 6-inch screen on the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. So, if you are looking for a compact device with lightweight design and a bit more premium while looking smartphone then Honor 9 Lite makes sense. But if you are okay with the more extensive display and then the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 seems great because there is a considerable difference in size and also weight on these two devices.

Now looking at the build quality, these devices have a quite excellent build quality excellent and again we would choose the Honor 9 Lite because of the glass finishing and overall fir and polished looks a bit more premium.

Display: –

We have two different display sizes, the 6-inch display on the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 while we have a 5.65-inch screen size on the Honor 9 Lite. Now, both these devices have 2.5D glass, and overall quality looks pretty good on both the smartphones. The viewing angles are also quite nice, the brightness levels are a tad better on the Zenfone Max Pro, and neither of these devices offers any protection on display. So, display quite similar, but if you are looking for the larger display and a better brightness level, then you have to go with the Asus Zenfone Max Pro.

Camera: –

We have a Dual Camera setup on the rear panel on both these devices while we have a Dual camera on the front panel on the Honor 9 Lite.

Now on the dual camera, we have a 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel combination on the Asus Zenfone Max Pro while we have 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel camera combination on the Honor 9 Lite.

On the front panel, we have an 8-megapixel selfie shooter on the Zenfone Max Pro while we have a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel combination on the Honor 9 Lite.

The Max Pro M1 clicks the images with vivid and more vibrant colours while on the Honor 9 Lite feels a bit washed out at times but not all the time. So, if you are looking for brighter and more vibrant colours, then the Asus Zenfone Max Pro makes a better choice. Also, the sharpness levels are tad better on the Zenfone Max Pro.

Now regarding the low-light performance quite similar performance and neither of these devices is strong.

Finally, the selfie experience is the one area where we feel the Honor 9 Lite has an advantage over the Dual camera setup. It performs slightly better than the Asus Max Pro M1.

Performance: –

We have the Snapdragon 636 Octa-Core chipset on the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with either 3 or 4 gigabytes of RAM and 32 or 64 gigabytes of storage. While we have HiSilicon Kirin Octa-Core chipset with either 3 or 4 gigabytes of RAM and 32 or 64 gigabytes of storage.

Now talking about the performance, the Kirin 659 is a good chipset, and it gives you a decent performance without any issues. But the Snapdragon 636 it’s one of the dominant chipsets in this segment, and it quickly beats the Kirin 659 regarding the raw performance. Also, the gaming performance is outstanding on the Snapdragon 636 while on the Kirin 659 there is an issue of either the Mali GPU. If you are a person who looks for gaming experience and dominant performance, then the Zenfone Max Pro makes the better choice.

Both these devices have a Dual SIM card, 4G LTE and VoLTE support, and top of that we have a dedicated SD card slot on the Max Pro M1, and also it comes with Dual VoLTE support.

Now, the fingerprint scanner performance is quite similar to both the smartphones.

Software: –

We have two different UI so we have the Stock Android on the Zenfone Max Pro and you will be seen that this is Stock UI with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. While we have Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and that we have the custom UI called EMUI 8.0 on the Honor 9 Lite. So, both these devices are completely different regarding the UI performance so if you want a lot of features of including theme support, Double Tap to wake Dual App support and a lot of gestures supported. So, these things are your priority then go for the EMUI because it offers Split-screen modes and options to choose.

Now if you are a person who likes Stock Android and want the simple UI then go with the Asus Zenfone Max Pro and also the Max Pro has the advantage that it will be getting two rounds of significant updates that is Android P and Q. But for the Honor 9 Lite we don’t see any significant updates coming up apart from the EMUI.

Battery: –

We have a clear winner the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with 5000 mAh capacity battery while we have 3000 mAh capacity battery on the Honor 9 Lite, neither of these devices has any fast charging supported.

Conclusion: –

So, which is a better device to buy?

If you are not worried about the looks, my suggestion would be to go with Asus Zenfone Max Pro because it has software which is right out two major updates are promised, an excellent performance, excellent gaming, extraordinary battery life, average camera performance and excellent value for money with the Snapdragon 636.

The Honor 9 Lite is an excellent smartphone in this price segment decent value for money experience. But if you are into the gaming and heavy multitasking the Kirin 659 is not a robust chipset when compared to the Snapdragon 636 and also it has a smaller capacity battery, and updates cycles are kind of not that great for Honor devices. So, out of these two smartphones, my personal choice would be the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
